The new APACS+ Operator Stations (OS), PCS 7/APACS+ OS, significantly improves the APACS+ Process Automation System. This addition is part of the continuing commitment from Siemens to support and improve the performance of currently installed APACS+ systems worldwide.
PCS 7/APACS+ OS is based on numerous user-requested functional enhancements, as well as technological advances to improve overall system capability.
APACS+ users have the option to move to the PCS 7 system efficiently and cost effectively without loss or replacement of existing controllers, I/O, wiring, or intellectual properties.
APACS+ users can now apply Totally Integrated Automation and SIMATIC IT to their process, resulting in reduced time-to-market, secured investments, and increased productivity.
Why choose PCS 7/APACS+ OS?
More information
The PCS 7/APACS+ OS consists of three components:
Database Automation (DBA) - To further automate the creation of the HMI, DBA automatically creates tags, alarm messages, and graphics (pictures) and associates these to the picture hierarchy.
Single Station - OS Single Station provides symbols, faceplates, and channel communications, which provide connectivity to the APACS+ controllers via MBUS/MNET or Ethernet.
Server - OS Server provides symbols, faceplates, and a communications channel, which provide connectivity to the APACS+ controllers via MBUS/MNET or Ethernet.
APACS+ OS architecture Click on graphic for larger view. | The PCS 7/APACS+ OS offers two system architectures: Single Station and Client/Server.
In the Single Station architecture, a single node acts as engineering station, operator console, and server, providing connectivity directly to MBUS/MNET or via Ethernet and Historian.
For larger installations, the use of standalone servers (redundancy available) and client nodes is available. Up to 32 clients and 12 Server pairs are supported. Clients also support a variety of monitor layouts including two, three, and four monitors. Server licensing comes in various sizes to better meet customer's needs. Sizes range from as small as 8K to as large as 250K variables per server. Additional advantages of a client/server architecture are: |
PCS 7 Operator Station
The operator station is the HMI interface of the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system, representing the user's window into the process. The operator station is extremely flexible and can be easily adapted to different plant architectures and customer requirements. more
