An Isolated Multi-Drop Converter (IMDC) is an electrical signal converter for converting RS-232 signals to RS-485 signals and vice versa.
You typically use an IMDC to allow your WinPM computer (through one of its COM ports) to communicate with a system of up to 128 field devices over an RS-485 network.
Isolated Multi-Drop Converter Features:
An RS-232 port for connection with your WinPM computer.
Four RS-485 ports for connection to a network of up to 128 field devices (32 devices per port).
Opto-isolators to protect your computer from electrical surges and stray currents generated by field devices.
High-energy surge suppression that meets or exceeds ANSI C62.41 (IEEE 587) standards.
