Announcing Siemens new Monitored Contact Block - 3SB34 Switching Element with Mount Monitoring
It is common practice to equip actuators such as Emergency-Stops with standard contact blocks (switching elements). The disadvantage is that the correct interconnection of both components and their impeccable functioning in case of emergency cannot be reliably assured - least of all during ongoing maintenance and operation. The solution is Siemens new 3SB34 Monitored Contact Block with mount monitoring from the SIRIUS range that automatically monitors both the connection to the actuator as well as the correct mounting on the Emergency-Stop - offering more safety.
Release of the extended range of enclosed 3RW44
The Circuit Protection and Controls Business Unit is pleased to announce the release of the 2nd phase of the NEW 3RW44 enclosed softstarters for immediate availability. This extension of the Class 73 and 74 offering brings the entire HP range from 15HP to 600HP. Phase 2 of the enclosed offering extends the previously released version from 300HP to 600HP. Class 73 offerings will be non-combination styles with Nema enclosure types 1, 12, 3R, and 4. Class 74 styles offer combination styles with circuit breakers or Fusible disconnects and are also available in Nema enclosure types 1, 12, 3R, and 4. Attached is a product selector spreadsheet that will make selection simple.

SIRIUS SC Product Line Expansion
The Sirius SC product line has been expanded to include a wide range control voltage (110 to 230 V AC) for the 3 phase inductive load versions of the solid-state contactors for the switching of motors. This results in 19 new versions which are available for ordering and are listed in the Sirius SC 2007 catalog supplement pages 7/46 and 7/47. Download
The new wide range coil versions completely overlap the previous versions 3RF24..-.B.5. which had a 230 V AC control voltage.

DP/AS-i F-Links Now Available
For the first time, worldwide, this device creates an optimized connection between ASIsafe and PROFISAFE network architectures. The DP/AS-I F-Link allows a high volume of distributed safe inputs to be cost effective connected to a Safe PLC system.
Voltage Drop Calculations Reference Sheet for NEMA Control Circuits
Please refer to the attached reference sheet for calculating control circuit wire lengths for Siemens NEMA contactors. This reference sheet gives detailed instruction on how to calculate maximum wire lengths. It also includes charts giving maximum wire lengths as a guideline. The document is also posted on the Control products web site on the NEMA Technical Information page.

3UG4 for Level Monitoring Now Available
Almost all liquids are conductive, i.e. current flows as soon as voltage is applied. This measuring method utilizes this principle. If the probes are immerged in the liquid, current flows; if the probes are in a dry state, no current flows. Electrolysis effects in the liquid are prevented by the use of alternating current. Together with the 3UG32 probes, our 3UG4501 level monitoring relay offers highly reliable one- and two-point controls and alarm messages in case of overflow or dry-running operation.

3UG4 for Speed Monitoring Now Available
The speed monitoring relay monitors a motor for exceeding an upper or lower limit via a sensor attached to the motor. The sensor supplies one impulse per rotation. A speed signal edge is evaluated to also ensure the reliable detection of motors and systems in idle states. Thanks to a scaling factor, up to ten sensors can be placed per rotation to accelerate the measuring with extremely slowly rotating motors while still measuring the present speed correctly.
