 The addition of enclosed versions through 300HP adds versatility to the current offering of the 3RW40 and 3RW44. The Sirius 3RW40 and the Sirius 3RW44 multi-featured soft starters can be used in a wide variety of start-up applications from gently starting/stopping conveyor belts through to hydraulic pumps. Two flexible offerings in open style units
Extremely compact, the Sirius 3RW40 is half the size of a comparable wye-delta starter, saving space in the control cabinet. A new control technique allows it to control two-phases in the power range up to 300HP/460V. Additionally, it uses a new Siemens patented control technique called “Polarity Balancing” to avoid DC current components in soft starters that control two phases.
The second new product, the Sirius 3RW44 , is designed for the most demanding motor starting applications and has an innovative closed-loop torque control allowing it to start drive systems up to a power rating of 600Hp/460V in a standard configuration. When starting and stopping motors it can ensure torque surges and current spikes are avoided, saving costs when dimensioning switchboards and when servicing and maintaining machinery. Start up is made simple using a keypad with a menu-driven graphical display. A new brake function allows for quicker stopping of freewheeling loads.
New enclosed offering for one stop shopping
The powerful feature-set of the Sirius soft starter offering is now elevated with the release of the Class 73 and 74 enclosed 3RW4 offering. The 3RW40 and 3RW44 units can be purchased in a complete enclosed offering through 300HP @460V with a variety of options and modifications. These new NEMA enclosed offerings can be selected in either N1, N12, N3R, N4, and N4 stainless steel (where available) enclosures. Non- combination styles fall under the Class 73 offering. Choices include either a 3RW40 or 3RW44, control circuit transformer (CPT), line side power block, and reset button. Combination types Class 74 include 3RW40 or 3RW44, CB or Fusible disconnect, and CPT. A variety of options and modification include pilot lights and pushbuttons, manual emergency start bypass, control relays, metering, and other options. The 3RW44 options include external keypad and/or the new profibus module. Simocode Pro V options can also be added.
The enclosed offerings of the Class 73 and 74 are currently available through 300HP @ 460V. Other voltage offerings are 200V, 230V, 380/415V, and 575V.
