SIMATIC WinAC Slot 412/416 is the way you can seamlessly integrate your PC with a PLC hardware control for your automation solution. WinAC Slot 412 or Slot 416 lets you combine the automation tasks of open-loop and closed-loop control, data processing, communications and visualizations, all in one PC.
Utilizing the external 24V power connection, the WinAC Slot 412 or 416 is fully independent of the PC for power, and can operate even with the PC off! The unit generates a warning signal for the CPU in case of a power failure, so that the Slot processor is still able to back up retentive data before all power is lost. Today, most commercially available PCs or our industrial PCs use PCI bus. The advantages are significantly reduced bus transfer times and thus faster communication between PC applications and PC hardware. Another advantage is the plug-in support, i.e. there is no need to make any interrupt or address settings on the card. Every WinAC Slot PLC has two Profibus ports; one can be configured either as a programming Node or a PROFIBUS DP Master.
