SINAMICS G110: execution of PLC commands and continuous control of the speeds of asynchronous motors, as well as integral motor protection functions

Several pumps are used for a basin in a water treatment plant. The pumps are to be controlled so that energy efficient response to low as well as high pump load requirements is possible. The pumps are to be controlled and operated via a local unit.

In the automation solution, the ventilator motors are connected to 4 SINAMICS G110 frequency converters. SINAMICS G110 frequency converters are connected with an S7-200 controller. This enables controlling all pumps in the network via the S7-200. The communication between the SINAMICS G110 frequency inverters and the S7-200 uses the USS protocol. The user program in the S7-200 controller allows the pumps to intelligently work together and to fulfill the requirements regarding energy efficiency. Protection mechanisms for the pumps are already integrated in the SINAMICS G110, hence, there are no costs for classic motor protection. The pumps are operated via a Touch Panel TP 177micro connected to the S7-200 controller.
