SIMATIC Thin Client

The SIMATIC THIN CLIENT is a very economical way of running a user station on-site on the machine. Typical application instances are a second station (WinCC flexible with Smart-Access) in connection with another SIMATIC Panel or Panel PC. Overcoming greater distances as a remote operator terminal is enabled by using the existing Ethernet network.

The possibility of using SCADA- and Office-SIMATIC IT functionality (e.g. WinCC, SAP, MS-Excel) directly on the machine and on-site supports the vertical integration of the data flow from host systems down to the machine level (e.g. warehouse utilization).

The SIMATIC THIN CLIENT communicates via SmartAccess or the Standard RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) by Microsoft with a host (SIMATIC Panel, Panel PC or Server) and does not require any installations, licenses or additional software on the Thin Client.

Key Features

SIMATIC Thin Clients require only one IP address. Local software installation or configuring are not required. The display and operator interface is provided by the host. Therefore the client does not have to implement backup, restore, or update actions. The total cost of ownership is correspondingly low.

As remote operator terminal without hard disk and fan, the device can be operated on machines in particularly rugged environments.
