Beyond FASTforward® - Siemens Announces "UMOVE(TM)", The Alternative Solution
ATLANTA -- Siemens announced today that it has developed the new product UMove, designed to improve the deliverability of the mail. UMove was developed in response to the United States Postal Service® (USPS) initiative to reduce undeliverable-as-addressed (UAA) mail by 50 percent by the year 2010.
An enhancement to the legacy FASTforward system, UMove provides faster response times and greater availability. UMove uses the latest change-of-address information from the USPS to account for the nearly 44 million address changes registered each year in the U.S. According to the Federal Register, address updates for the Standard Mail® market will be required in the near future.
To meet this increased demand, UMove will not only be available for multi-line optical character reading (MLOCR) equipment, but also for bar code sorters, providing the ability for commercial mailers to identify, sort and remove "undeliverable as addressed” mail prior to submission to the USPS. The process includes a loop-back to the mailer for address correction, saving time and money for both the mailer and the USPS.
UMove, available in mid-2008, will use the USPS NCOALink® product as a basis for address matching and will be certified by the USPS.
