Chicago — At this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show, Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. will unveil the new 1FT7 series of synchronous servomotors for increased performance and user productivity.
This high-performance motor is up to 30 percent smaller than the 1FT6 series and offers users increased torque and a robust encoder attachment with convenient mounting options in a compact design.
The 1FT7 is the first servomotor with an encoder that can be replaced in the field without adjustment. Designed to withstand vibrations, the encoder operates without oscillations. Additionally, the encoder technology integrates with both SIMODRIVE and SINAMICS drives from Siemens.
Having been constructed with the flange on the drive end, the flat surface on the top provides expanded mounting options. A medium inertia motor designed for general machine tool applications, the 1FT7 series has a higher overload at 4 x MO (self-cooled) up to frame size 100. The flange on the drive end is also compatible with the 1FT6 series.
In addition to self-cooling, the new 1FT7 motors can be cooled through forced ventilation or water cooling through “COOL JETS” to lower the temperature of the motor. The cooling water connection, water flow and redirections are maintained exclusively in the end shield on the non-drive end. The 1FT7 series also has a higher degree of protection at IP64/IP65/IP67.“
The 1FT7 series was designed to meet the changing market needs with innovative new techniques,” said Rajas Sukthankar, marketing and business development manager. “With its convenient mounting, compact design and encoder technology, the 1FT7 is the new benchmark for servomotors.”
