Siemens Demonstrates Integrated Energy Management Strategies At 2008 Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo
ATLANTA -- Reducing ethanol production risks, lowering the total cost of ownership and providing unequaled customer support highlight Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc.’s presence at the 2008 International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo, June 16-19, 2008, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, Nashville, Tenn.
As a Gold Industry Partner, Siemens will demonstrate automation technology that is helping ethanol producers reduce time to market. Additionally, Siemens ethanol experts are scheduled to discuss technologies that have been proven to reduce production costs and enhance safety.
“We look forward to sharing what we have learned from more than a decade of helping ethanol producers refine their craft,” said Dave Hankins, vice president for the Chemical/Pharmaceutical Center of Competence, Siemens Energy & Automation. “Throughout the production lifecycle, Siemens is partnering with biofuel producers across the United States to reduce risks and costs across the entire operation.”
As part of Siemens support of the workshop and expo, representatives from the Siemens biofuels team will make presentations covering areas of high interest to ethanol producers – reducing production costs and improving safety.
At 7 p.m., June 16, in the exhibition hall, Rich Chmielewski, Siemens biofuels marketing manager, will discuss how integrated energy management and process control can help to better manage the plant as well as reduce production costs. Don Mack, Siemens Biofuels Initiative lead, will also be giving a presentation at the event. He will explain how using safety instrumentation systems (SIS) in biofuel plant design can improve worker safety and asset availability.
For over a decade, Siemens has supplied process automation systems for two-thirds of the fuel ethanol plants built in the United States. As of 2008, Siemens has provided process automation services and products to more than 110 plants. Combined, these new plants are producing more than 7 billion gallons of ethanol annually.
