Siemens SINEMA E™ Software Simplifies Wireless LAN Installations
ATLANTA -- SINEMA E™, from Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., takes the guesswork out of planning, simulating and configuring secure and reliable industrial and office WLAN applications.
Designed to compliment Siemens Scalance™ wireless LAN, SINEMA E (SIMATIC Network Manager Engineering) scalable software simplifies the task of installing and starting up a WLAN network. The software visually simulates signal coverage, data transmission rate, signal-to-noise ratio and access point overlapping of a wireless LAN network, while accounting for environmental conditions and device parameters.
Planning and installing the WLAN network is simplified with integrated and user-specific catalog entries for WLAN devices, antennas and radio wave obstacles. The software also includes standard graphical formats for importing floor plans.
An integrated consistency check establishes the validity of the configuration and reduces the possibility of errors even before the network has been installed. A reporting function quickly creates offers, provides mounting instructions for installation personnel and documents the system for acceptance testing and troubleshooting.
SINEMA E is available in three scalable licenses – Lean, Standard and Powerpack. The Lean license offers WLAN planning, configuration and simulation meeting the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g standard for offices and industrial applications. The Standard license meets IEEE a/b/g/h requirements for office and industry and can record, evaluate and visualize measured WLAN signals (site survey). It also offers extended simulation and planning options. The Powerpack license enables users to affordably upgrade from the Lean to the Standard license.
