What is PCS 7 Box and what can it do for you?

PCS 7 Box is an all-in-one, small-scale process control system that combines control HMI, engineering, fieldbus, historian, and batch into a single compact industrial PC.

This allows you to use a common set of hardware and software between all your different sized applications increasing the productivity of your personnel and make it easier to re-use intellectual property. This scalability ensures smooth technology transfer and quicker time to market as new products move from the lab, to pilot plant, to production.

PCS 7 Lab delivers process control capability into the process development environment

PCS 7 Lab is a new product that has been designed specifically for process development in the laboratory.

Based on PCS 7 Box, PCS 7 Lab is optimized for mobility and flexibility in the lab with pre-engineered software modules. The use of banana-plug connectors for I/O allows quick reconfiguration and setup for you to perform experiments quicker than ever before. Data is automatically recorded in the “electronic lab notebook” allowing it to be reused at other phases in the product development process.

The Microbox (PCS 7 AS RTX) is a new a controller capable of delivering PC-like computational power and processing speed at the control layer. Running on Windows XP embedded, it comes loaded with Ethernet, USB and PROFIBUS connectivity and uses only Compact Flash Memory (no harddrive).

Because of its unique design, it requires no fans and is virtually maintenance - free. This cost-effective, small form-factor industrial PC can be used as a traditional controller or can be used to perform complex calculations, required to support certain types of advanced process control or statistical process control.

PCS 7 Helps Bell’s Brewery Improve Fermentation Control

Craft breweries such as Bell’s Brewery have applied the brewing-specific application of PCS 7 box, the Braumat Compact to their breweries. In this application, PCS 7 Box comes with a brewing engineering library built-in with pre-defined solutions for any craft brewing process (brewing, fermentation cellars, filtration, etc). The Braumat Compact also has application- specific HMI screens designed for monitoring, controlliing and planning of brewery production.
